About Me

For me it is All About Being of Service & Living the Life of the Give-Away....

Being Mindful of those who are unable to speak for themselves; our Non-Two Legged Relations and the Future Generations.

It's about walking on the Canka Luta Waste Behind the Cannunpa and the ceremonies.

It's about Mindfulness and Respect. It's about Honesty and owning up to my foibles.

360: Going Within-Walking a Labyrinth: May 31, 2007

Going Within: Walking a Labyrinth magnify
A soulful meditation is to be found while walking a Labyrinth. Not like a maze, where one encounters dead ends and must back-track, this is a seemingly endless journey to the center of being.

The photo is of the Labyrinth @ Sycamore Springs Spa on Avila Beach Rd....there is no entry fee, the spa has made this a gift to all who choose to stop and avail themselves of the journey.

Twice I have walked this particular Labyrinth, both times a clearer sense of my being has emerged.

The first time I was meditating on the length of the journey...going within, how similar it is to life's lessons. yet on the way out of the Labyrinth, I noticed how quickly the return journey was in comparison.

The second time I walked, was just one week past, after graduating with my MLIS and on my way to a massage and with plans for an interview. The walk was decidedly easier, yet almost as long...going within seems to be a task of some length. Once in the center, I made a tobacco offering and sat with the Center Tonka Oyate just giving thanks for my life.

After offering the remains of the smoke to that Center Elder, I happened to glance to my left, I saw something sparkley in the sand...a tiny glimmer of light. Much to my surprise and joy, the Spirits of the Labyrinth gifted me a tiny diamond...as well as a blue seed bead. Wowie...also on the way back out I was also gifted a few raven feathers....

It seems as something I am doing is right and just...Wopila, Tanka Shila.

Now I am not thinking that this gift will ever be duplicated, nor do I say "do this because...." However, assuredly, I know that there is treasure within ourselves, within our hearts, within the very core of our being.

Take the walk...it is a journey of great healing and self-revelation!
