UPDATE: Bala Falls: Peggy Peterson

The day the Trumpeter Swans came to visit was the day I was fired fromHunters Bay Radio for asking for a replay of my Hydro show with Allan Turnbull. I was a volunteer Radio Show Host for my weekly program called Green Tapestry for over two years there.

It was also the day I learned how important the work I am doing in Bala to stop the government from destroying the Town Of Bala.

I have had no income or access to income these eight months and have relied on friends and family to keep my home and health.

Unfortunately support for my Occupation of the Bala Falls had died since I asked for an apology from the leadership of Save the Bala Falls for their recent effort to send me back to Huntsville.

I have never officially met this group but they made it clear over time that they would not be supporting me. They refused to help me financially or fund raise for me. Several members of this group have been helping on their own behalf and I am very grateful. I would not still be doing this without them. You will not find me on their website but I have continued to reach out to the best of my ability. You will find great info there and plans for the big fundraiser on May 16 at Don's Bakery.

They are actively working at Provincial Government with a Lobbyist and hope to have good news soon. That would be great news for all of us, no question. They are also convinced sending me home will improve those talks., seriously and since they have just never been interested in trying to work with me to protect Turtle Island.

A few weeks ago the antics escalated into a campaign to remove me and then I had to draw a line between us, a tough day.

It was the hardest thing I have had to do since I arrived on August 28.

Taking a stand to protect land and water is nothing compared to having to speak the truth about what has been happening in Bala. The persistent great group of cottagers and locals represents a mass of wonderful committed people is a true inspiration, they have collectively stopped this project after fighting it for ten years.

The leadership however has me puzzled and somewhat angry for the time they have wasted trying to silence me.

There is always good news in this on going effort to save Bala, the effort to protect the falls is supported in this community and the people are very helpful as they have gotten to know who I am and why I am defending their community..
I am grateful to Save the Bala Falls for being a great reference on materials and I have to forgive them for not risking looking at my arrival as helpful for the future of this Crown land and Traditional Portage

I continue to do what I can everyday to stop this power project and restore some peace of mind to many here.

PS I have set up a Pay Pal account for fundraising and we are planning to have a dance

Account is: occupybalafalls@gmail.com
